Luigi Stornaiolo (1956, Quito)  a viusal artits that is considered one of the most prominent contemporary painters in Ecuador and Latin America.

Throughout his career, Stornaiolo has received several awards, including the Eugenio Espejo National Prize (2011 edition). He has represented Ecuador on multiple occasions at international biennials in Cuenca, São Paulo, Trujillo, and Venice. His works have been and continue to be permanently exhibited in national and international museums and galleries.


At the Central University of Ecuador, Stornaiolo studied architecture for three years before leaving to dedicate himself to painting and the study of the great masters of world art. He pursued this path as a self-taught artist, traveling through major European museums and creating replicas of works by Rembrandt, Titian, Velázquez, and Raphael.


Although naturally right-handed, Stornaiolo currently paints only with his left hand, after his right side became paralyzed. According to some doctors, the diagnosis is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS); others have identified nerve deterioration, and various experimental treatments have been attempted in his case.
